Our second ‘Contextual’ poetry reading, held last night, was graced with double the number of attendees compared to our first meeting in November. Not only that, but there was a true multi-national feel to the evening with participants from the US and Germany in addition to the UK. There is clearly an appetite for a relaxed hour of good poetry! The evening was a success thanks, of course, our super readers and the contributions of all who attended the virtual event.
Our main reader was Kate Swann whose collection Ripples Beyond the Pool was published by Coverstory books in 2019. She was more than ably supported by super contributions from Adele, Sara, David and Janet – and even a guest appearance from a pair of vultures…!
Again the format of the hour-long session seemed to work well: a main reader supported by a number of others, and the displaying of the poems being read on-screen during the reading.
And I’m sure the friendly and relaxed nature of the session – with people able to comment ‘in real time’ both verbally and in the Zoom chat window – really helped.
Contextual: 3 is likely to be scheduled for Wednesday 26th January @ 19:30 (UK-time).
