Writing to Gisella and Other Stories by Ian Gouge (October 3rd)
Writing to Gisella
In many ways it was the perfect summer break: taken on impulse, and filled with the beauty of Tuscany. For Rick it was also filled with love; the kind of love that changes a young man’s life forever. Then, without any explanation, Rick’s dream dies and there is nothing but vacuum.
For years.
Until her letter arrives unexpectedly, finding him a different person. Rick’s choice is binary. Does he – after all this time and the pain of a broken heart – simply ignore her letter? Or does he respond? Does he risk opening old wounds in the search for answers to those post-Tuscany questions which once ravaged him?

Supporting Writing to Gisella is a collection of short stories that continue to explore the nature of love and relationships, the pain of loss and of letting go – and what it means to be human.
New Contexts: 9 (October 10th)
In this, the ninth edition of New Contexts, you will discover more contemporary poetry and prose from both sides of the Atlantic: serious work which examines ageing and the past, nature and nurture, opportunities taken or missed; and softer and more light-hearted pieces perhaps inevitably addressing similar themes.
New Contexts: 9 is a collection in the best traditions of the series. We hope you enjoy it.
