Jim Friedman was born in Lewisham, London and raised in Stevenage New Town, Hertfordshire. He to read English at Nottingham University and stayed on to complete an M.Phil.
He taught at Loughborough University for 20 years and then changed career to become a relationship counsellor and supervisor until his retirement in 2014 when he started writing poetry again.
He is a member of Derby Stanza. Standing Alone, Leaning Against, Poetry Collections by Jim Friedman and Dave Smith, Coverstory Books 2022, is his first published collection.
